Kowanyama People 1972 to 1995

In 1973, I sought out the company of our First Nation’s People. I had the opportunity to visit Kowanyama and I took portraits of the people I met. I used my photography and camera as a way of getting close to the people I had so much admiration and respect for. I became close to the elders and listened to their stories, I was so humbled by their experences.

I also returned in the 1990s, later in my photography career where I purposely set out to give the people respect and to honor them with beautiful portraits of their elders.
